Reverie: A Music-Driven Emotional Journal App

Reverie is developed by Theodore Graham as an independent project. This privacy policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Reverie collects and stores the following data that you provide directly through your use of the app:
Account information including your email address, username, date of birth, and profile photo. Emotional journal entries including your selected emotions, attached songs, written reflections, photographs, voice notes, and tags. App preferences including theme selections, reminder settings, and onboarding state.
All data is stored locally on your device using SQLite as the primary data store. When you are connected to the internet, your data is synchronised to Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) as a cloud backup. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Firestore security rules restrict access so that only you can read or write your own data.
Reverie uses Firebase Authentication for account management. You can sign in with email and password or via Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0). Reverie does not store your password directly. Authentication is handled entirely by Firebase.
When you search for songs, Reverie queries third-party music APIs (Spotify, iTunes, and Deezer) to retrieve song metadata such as title, artist, album name, and artwork URL. Reverie does not access your streaming accounts, playlists, or listening history. Only the metadata for songs you select is stored.
Reverie does not collect location data, advertising data, or any data not directly related to the features you use. Reverie does not share your data with any third parties. Reverie does not display advertisements.
Reverie uses Firebase services which may automatically collect certain technical data including crash logs, diagnostics information, and device or instance identifiers. This data is used solely to monitor app stability, diagnose issues, and improve performance. It is not used for advertising or shared with third parties.
You have full control over your data at all times. You can export all of your data in JSON format from within the app via the Privacy and Data page. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. These features support your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the right of access and the right to erasure.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. Go to Settings and select "Deactivate Account." This will permanently delete your account information, all journal entries, emotions, song data, photographs, voice notes, and any other content stored in Firebase. Local data on your device will also be cleared. This action cannot be undone.
If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing reveriejournalapp@gmail.com with the email address associated with your account.
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all data stored in Firebase (including Firestore documents and media files in Firebase Storage) is permanently removed. Local data on your device is cleared when the app is uninstalled.
Reverie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the app, please contact us and we will delete it.
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
